Meet Mustafa Berke Güreltöl, a #ManningCICS December 2022 graduate with a BS in Computer Science. He is currently a 3D artist based in Istanbul, Turkey.

"I started studying computer science as a 3D character artist because I wanted to develop my own computer games and learn about the technology behind all these systems that ease our lives today.

Artists often approach a project intuitively, relying on their visual library. Scientists, on the other hand, take steps by relying on analytics and synthesis. After my third year of college, I found that there is an additional, lesser-known approach that combines the two – allowing your intuition to drive your analysis. I started designing a roadmap for my projects to find shortcuts, remove unnecessary iterations, and solve problems logically, even before initiating a project.

I am currently building a 3D full-body écorché that will allow users to study human anatomy by isolating specific muscle groups and bones. I researched the human skeletal system over the past month. At this stage, I am constantly sculpting muscles and bones, trying to find the correct superficial forms that shape our bodies.

My suggestions for people interested in this field would be to do a lot of online research, learn a few things from each community you join, and put in the hours to improve your skillset.”
