🌟 Prit Shah**- Student Spotlight** 🌟

👋 Meet Prit Shah (he/him), a December 2025 M.S. in Computer Science graduate and Bay State Fellow at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. This January, Prit will be joining MathWorks as an Engineer in the Engineering Development Group (EDG)!

Prit’s journey reflects curiosity, depth, and a drive to learn, whether exploring hierarchical reinforcement learning, teaching foundational programming, or experimenting with genAI systems during his internship at MathWorks. He worked with the Data Analysis team, developing genAI prototypes and exploring new ways to transform real-world data into useful context for LLMs.

Prit’s advice to students:

• Engage deeply with your projects and class assignments. “AI tools can be tempting, but I found even slight use reduced my critical thinking, a skill that’s paramount to master.”
• Get involved with clubs or teaching positions. Supporting peers strengthened his understanding and opened doors to new connections.
• During internships, talk to your colleagues as much as possible. “You learn real-world skills there, and it helps you stand out when you can show a strong understanding or come up with interesting ideas.”

He also emphasized that internships can be one of the easiest paths to a full-time offer , allowing you to showcase your skills and fit with the team long before the formal hiring process.
