Landing Your Next Tech Position: Job Hunting Insights
Meet Shreya Nimbali, a junior computer science major who brings insights from her job hunting experiences this summer, during which she secured a data engineering co-op at Delta Air Lines. Here's five lessons learned from Shreya for landing your next tech position, just in time for this year's recruiting season:
"Here are five lessons I learned from my job search this season.
One: Opportunity hunting is a daring expedition. But with the right approach, success is within reach. It’s important to begin early, conduct thorough research, keep an open mind, and target the opportunities that best align with your goals.
Two: Rejections are stepping stones to wisdom. Embrace them as thrilling twists in this adventure. With resilience and a pinch of creativity, you will conquer the path leading to a prosperous future.
Three: Think out of the box. Finding the right fit in the tech industry can be challenging in the current job market. In times like these, venture beyond conventional paths and set sail towards industries that remain resilient amidst the storm. For me, the aviation industry became my compass, guiding me towards stability and growth.
Four: Interview preparation is key. Research the company, practice your responses and coding skills, and showcase your unique strengths. Exude confidence, leaving a lasting impression. Oh, and don't forget—ask questions that ignite your interviewers’ minds.
Five: Keep the spark alive. Once you have conquered your dream role, embrace curiosity and fearlessly seek answers from colleagues. The hunger to learn can take you a long way!
Armed with these lessons, you can spread your wings, take flight, and make your career ascend, painting the skies with success."
